Candidate Meet’n Greet with CP & CRG

As I promised at the meeting, here is the posted version of the speech. Due to the delay in the start and overruns with answers/questions in the main part of the meeting, and the fact were told that we were to keep our introductions to a two minute limit, there was no way this would have met with those requirement.

As a candidate, I feared the wrath of Dick’s bell. *smile* [Note: For those that could not make the meeting, Dick was the time keeper with his famous timer.]

Good evening everyone. [intro humor]

There have been some rumors and rumors of rumors about my character floating in the last couple of weeks and I would like to take a minute to clear some of this up for you tonight.

Conservative as defined by Webster Dictionary:
Tending or disposed to maintain existing views, conditions, or institutions. In short resistant to changing the “status quo”. What happens when the views, conditions or institutions around conservative minded folks moves far from where this group once held true to the values they firmly wanted to maintain? If the original views, conditions and institutions are not allowed to be enjoyed anymore, then one cannot continue to take a “conservative stance”. At that point in time, paleoconservatives must become the new patriots to step forward and gather the troops to return to the former state of the views, conditions and institutions.

Discernment as defined by Webster Dictionary:
The quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure. In business this is sometimes labeled as “thinking outside the box.” With twenty plus years in Information Technology one of the key factors that makes my job easy is listening to what folks are asking for then figuring out what they are really asking for in a solution to an issue, problem, or enchancment. The key element to start and work through a project is clear communication between all the team members. This open and active communication allows all involved have discernment of the stated goals.

Faith as defined by Webster Dictionary:
Belief and trust in an loyalty to God : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion : fidelity to one’s promises : sincerity of intentions. In our adult life together with each other Aimee and I refer to this as “the open door possibility”. When an opportunity becomes apparent to us, we go to God in prayer first, and then weigh the pros and cons, and then if we have faith that our decision is right we work towards that goal. If the door stays open and we are allowed to walk through it, then it was God’s will for our family. I could not imagine attempting some of the things Aimee and I have been able to do without having that faith that God was guiding and leading us every step of the way.

Liberty as defined by Webster Dictionary:
The quality of state of being free : freedom from arbitrary or despotic control : the positive enjoyment of various social, political, or economic rights and privileges. This state of being is what the colonies fought for 235 years ago this July. Our founding fathers worked hard to provide us with a tool to keep those liberties they had just fought so hard for – we refer to it as the Constitution. Something has happened to the liberty of 1776 that has perverted it to be where we are today in the United States of America. Our current, central government in DC imposes restrictions, rules, policies and laws that restrict our choices in life from cradle to grave.

I am of the mindset of citizens that have been stepping forward since 2007 to have faith that God will help us discern solutions that will get us back to our nation’s mantra of true Liberty for all men. When we get our country back to its Constitutional Rule of Law as set forth in our founding document, then and only then will I ever entertain the notion of calling myself a “true conservative”. Once we get our country back to a Constitutional Republic, then I will be of the mindset of total resistance to change and will fight with every ounce of life left in me to maintain that “status quo”.
