Dad came out last night and told me of a tale from his youth.
“When I was about 10 years old tinsel cost $3.00 for a box. We didn’t have that type of money to waste. There was a store near the A&P Grocery Store where father (Virgil Cochran) worked that had a tree on display covered top to bottom with tinsel.
After Christmas, I was walking in the alleyway behind the A&P, and they had put the tree out for the trash folks to pickup. I went home and got bags and then went back and cleaned that tree of tinsel. That tinsel lasted till I moved away for college.”
God bless
